Emily Van Veghel
Sole Practioner
Born and raised in Ontario, Emily began her formal education at Wilfrid Laurier University, obtaining a Bachelor of Music, Honours in Voice Performance. She then completed her legal education and training with the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Emily was called to the bar in Ontario and began practicing law in 2019. She was called to the bar again in Alberta in 2020.
Emily is an experienced litigator in Edmonton and the surrounding area and has assisted families in both the Alberta Court of Justice and the Alberta Court of King’s Bench. Emily has represented clients throughout the Alberta family law legal system including Family Docket Court; Regular and Special Family Chambers, Questioning in and out of court, trial days and Emergency Protection Orders.
Prior to attending law school Emily worked as a vocal musician in the Greater Toronto Area and spent her summers working for Ontario Parks where she was trained to trap and relocate black bears throughout Ontario. Emily loves taking part in Edmonton’s many festivals and community events. She often attends theatre and symphony productions across the city and ensures to takes time and appreciate the scenic views along the river valley trails.
